Early Tuesday morning, Claremont experienced a light summer rain shower that lasted for about 30 minutes. This rain provided some relief from the hot and dry weather in the Southland. Forecasters predict a 20 to 30% chance of thunderstorms across Los Angeles County this week, with the mountains, deserts, and foothills being the most likely areas to see rain. The rain rates near thunderstorms could reach up to half an inch per hour, and there might be isolated downdrafts with gusts up to 45 mph. Residents are advised to be cautious of slippery roads, small hail, power outages, and blown-over objects. Additionally, there’s a possibility of minor flooding from brief, heavy downpours.
